Girls Announce UK Headline Tour And New Single

Click HERE for the Girls' 'Hellhole Ratrace' video
San Francisco duo Girls are pleased to announce their first UK headline tour.

The eleven date tour will be the band's second visit to the UK, following a series of rapturously-received debut shows earlier this year. The shows, which will see Girls' core duo of Christopher Owens and Chet JR White bolstered to a live four piece by guitarist John Anderson and drummer Garret Godard, will be bookended by a special album release show at London's Lexington on 21st September and an appearance at Cardiff's SWN Festival on 23rd October.

Tickets for all shows are on sale now.

Girls are also pleased to announce the release of brilliant new single 'Lust For Life' through Fantasytrashcan / Turnstile. The Temper Trap @ ICA London

Delicate, sinister pop from Melbourne: The Temper Trap are something like the awesome Yeasayer but with added 80s soul sensibilities and a sprinkling of rave. Their recent single 'The Science of Fear' is one of those urgent, pulsing hot-weather tunes, the singer has a glorious croonsome voice and they are all quite hot.

You can cathc them live @ The ICA London on July 15th 2009 Click Here for info

Frank Turner new single, album and tour

Continuing his meteoric rise to superstardom, Frank Turner will be releasing his brand new download-only single ‘The Road’ Xtra Mile Recordings/Epitaph Records. It’s an immediately catchy slice of sing-a-long folk/punk taken from the stunning forthcoming album ‘Poetry Of The Deed’.

Recruiting his outstanding live band for the recording process Frank, along with Grammy nominated producer Alex Newport (Death Cab For Cutie, At The Drive-In, Two Gallants) his third studio album ‘Poetry…’has captured the essence of his live show onto the record as performing live has always been at the very heart of the Frank Turner experience. The results are a big, lush album that showcases Frank’s growing maturity in song-writing and style perfectly.

‘The Road’ is accompanied by a video of Frank’s quite honestly mental attempt to play 24 shows in 24 hours. This involved posting a request on his blog for a load of London-based places where he could come and play a few songs. Tiny frontrooms and kitchens, roof terraces and warehouses, music magazine offices and a record store were all donated and Frank played them all, culminating at a crowded and raucous finale at North London’s Flowerpot venue.

The album release in the USA coincides nicely with a support tour with old friends The Gaslight Anthem in September and in the UK with his largest headline tour to date taking in London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire, for the last night. With over 3 months still to go until it starts, Manchester Academy 2 has already sold out and many of the other dates are expected to follow suit very soon.

Tinariwen announce details of UK tour in October '09

Following performances at the Glastonbury Festival in late June and at London’s Roundhouse, Tinariwen have announced details of a UK tour in October.

The full list of dates are as follows:
October
16 Belfast Festival
17 Dublin Academy
18 Dublin Academy
20 Sheffield O2 Academy
21 Glasgow O2 ABC
23 Manchester Academy
24 Cardiff University
25 London Koko

Tinariwen released their fourth album, 'Imidiwan : Companions' through Independiente in late June.

The 13-track album, produced by Jean-Paul Romann, who had previously worked with Tinariwen on their debut album, 'The Radio Tisdas Sessions' in 2001, was recorded in Tessalit, the Malian dessert village home of band members Ibrahim Ag Alhabib & Hassan Ag Touhami.

Their debut album was a much-feted record that effortlessly crossed over to those with previous little interest in African music courtesy of its guitar licks, grimy desert sound, arcane rhythms and wild rebel iconography.

In the past eight years the band have continued their steady ascent playing over 700 concerts in Europe as well as releasing a further two albums, 'Amassakoul' in 2004 and 'Aman Iman' in 2007. Along the way they have picked up a number of awards (BBC Award for World Music in 2005 and the prestigious Praetorius Music Prize in Germany in 2008) and a raft of ‘legendary’ fans including the likes of Robert Plant, Carlos Santana, Brian Eno, Thom Yorke, TV on the Radio and Bono & the Edge.

Ninja Tune @ The ICA

LA electronic dandy Daedelus plays a live monome set (the monome is a box of delights, look it up on Youtube). Doing a DJ and AV set is DJ Food, playing live is new Ninja signee Grasscut, pioneer of experimental music that you actually want to dance to, then DJing into the early hours we have King Cannibal and, hopping over from Lo Recordings, the magnificent Cursor Miner, aka the electro Syd Barrett. This is a feast of hot Ninja Tune meat.
