Gripper 'A Life Of Consummate Ease'

Gripper spent his younger years playing in garage punk bands, splicing together funk, disco and electro tapes, and listening to pirate soul stations and early New York mix tapes. Throw in long, late night listening sessions with John Peel and The Old Grey Whistle Test as company, and it's no surprise that he soon embarked on an obsessive mission to collect vinyl from a diverse musical spectrum.

This obsession has led to a long and respected DJ career during which he's played everywhere from underground parties at Cafe Mambo (Ibiza), Tantra (Miami), Zeytuna Beach (Egypt), Sylvia's Soul Food (Harlem, NY) and Happiness Stan's (London) to self promoted clubs in his home town of Barrow-in-Furness, culminating with the legendary "YUMMY" sessions, set up with fellow Barrovian, Andy Turner (aka AIM).

He's remixed and worked with Aim, KRS-One, Mobb Deep, Victor Simonelli, Shaun Ryder and Cabaret Voltaire's Stephen Mallinder, and his first solo album provides a further glimpse into his unique and provocative style.

‘A Life Of Consummate Ease’ reflects Gripper's passion for soul-based music from across the alternative spectrum, taking in beats, breaks, hip hop, psych, soul, funk, Latin, electronica, dub and deep house. Relax, enjoy, and get a grip.
