Thursday 12 Feb - Buraka Som Sistema & guests @ London Scala
"The best live band I’ve seen in the past two years" - Gilles Peterson, Radio 1
"One of the most exciting and innovative dance acts in the world" - NME
If you were lucky enough to be at their intimate show at London's Cargo, you'll know exactly what they're talking about. Not only was everyone dancing; they were dancing like lunatics.
It was a performance of a band in full flight of confidence and with staggering reviews of the just released debut album, Black Diamond, - many stating it's the best dance album of the year - this Scala show is a great escape from the current world doom and gloom. This music is not more recycling of the same Beatles melodies or X Factor bulls**t but an Angolan-influenced genre inspired by Western Techno that was made for suburban teenagers to go crazy to. That probably doesn't make sense on paper but good music always finds its way.
This gig will also be in support of Buraka's new single, 'Sound of Kuduro' featuring M.I.A., Puto Prata and DJ Znobia. The video is already a viral sensation online, named one of Pitchfork's videos of the year and has nearly a million views on Youtube.
There are some pretty incredible remixes in the pipe for this one so stay tuned for more information.
