Marc Collin is the man behind Nouvelle Vague and the Parisian composer who single-handedly changed the way we thought about Depeche Mode and Visage by daringly rearranging their songs with bossa nova beats and sultry chanteuses. He has now taken on a very different ambition; to change the way we feel about 1980’s film sound tracks.
From 'Eye Of The Tiger' to 'Flashdance (What A Feeling)' - Hollywood, Mon Amour strips away the dated bombast and overblown synthesizers, the shoulder pads and eyeliner, to amazingly reveal songs underneath that you could never imagine existed. Where there was once a garish palette of squealing guitar solos and high-five vocals, Collin manages to find fragile colours and tender melancholy.
Some of the coolest young female singers around were queueing up to work with Collin including superstar to be Yael Naim, Skye previously from Morcheeba, Brazilian hipster Cibelle and appropriately Hollywood’s own rock chick, Juliette Lewis.
Hollywood, Mon Amour play a one-off showcase in Paris to launch the album. Already confirmed to join Marc Collin and a full band on stage will be vocalists, Skye and Nadeah.
