Thursday 17th April 2008 at the Astoria 2, London
Featuring:LUCKY SOUL, GRANTURA and MONTT MARDIÉ
The postponed pre Christmas show is re-scheduled and given a spring clean.
Ruffa Lane Records celebrates its third (and busiest) year of releasing some of the finest pop music available to humanity with its sophomore Revue show in London expanding on its birth at the 100 club. Label co-founders Lucky Soul close the show after sets by rapidly rising folk collective Grantura and Sweden’s foremost eccentric pop genius and Jens Lekman collaborator Montt Mardié complete with his backing band ‘The Intelligence’.
Proceeds from the gig will go to Deptford-based charity The 999 Club...
The line up:
LUCKY SOUL
For those in the know, Lucky Soul are the worst kept secret in female-fronted, Spector-soaked pop. Indeed, 2007 turned out to be quite a year for this super stylish London six-piece. Following the release of their sparkling debut, 'The Great Unwanted', they won over thousands of hearts across the world with their lush, love-struck, classic pop songs. www.luckysoul.co.uk
GRANTURA
With a nod and a wink to The Band, The Byrds, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young and Elliot Smith, Grantura's music ebbs and flows through nostalgic sepia-washed American alt-rock. But its lush harmonies, warm kindly guitars and understated honest vocals are evocative of a sound that is unmistakably British and 21st century in its delivery. www.myspace.com/grantura
MONTT MARDIÉ
A long time ago, before he was Sweden’s foremost eccentric pop genius, Montt Mardié was an 80s-obsessed bedroom pop dreamer called David Pagmar. Since then he’s released two classic albums, ‘Drama’ and ‘Clocks / Pretender’ in his home country to huge success. www.myspace.com/monttmardie
